Due to the reason that majority of materials we use for brickwork is locally manufactured, this phase is cheap to start and complete. Bricks, cement, sand and plastic is available in Zimbabwe. However there are cases where one would prefer imported building materials. Construction costs will vary due to choice of building materials and location of project.

On average the cost of construction in Zimbabwe per square meter is between $80 – $120. Thus a simple cottage cottage building costs around $6400. A 3 bedroom house $12800. 4 bedroom costs $14400. These are normally the standard houses currently trending. These prices may vary with locations. For instance cities like Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Masvingo, Gweru, Rusape, Bindura, Victoria Falls, Zvishavane and more will not have properties valued at the same prices.

If you wish to build in the rural the cost can either be higher or lower than that of building in town due to various factors. The most likely situation is that you can build it cheaper if you do not import the materials from outside the village. Most rural areas have people who mould farm bricks and crush quarry stones. If you make use of these, you can cut costs by almost half. But if one prefers buying from town, then budget may be double due to transportation and other logistics factors.
